Anna Graber
grew up in Europe, where she
developed and mastered her skills. As early as age five she showed
a passion for knitting, embroidery, crocheting and sewing.
Discipline was key in her schooling.
In her early twenties, Anna Graber was lucky
enough to have the opportunity to immigrate to this country where
she quickly learned the English language.
To her great joy, in New York, she had easy
access to fine laces, fabrics and a myriad of quality sewing
supplies, always quality.
Anna has an uncanny eye for color and design,
and constantly improved her skills. It's easier to ask her what she
cannot do with her gifted hands.
In her earlier years Anna made all her
clothes, her children's attire, as well as anything made out of
fabric in their home. In 1988 her oldest daughter walked down the
aisle wearing a wedding gown made by her Mom. Anna also had the joy
of creating her two granddaughters one-of-a-kind Christening gowns
and Communion gowns. They are now family heirlooms.
Never short
of ideas, Anna designed her own needlepoint pillows and area rugs.
In the mid-seventies, Anna painstakingly created the most beautiful
hand beaded Christmas ornaments. One Christmas, to her great pride,
these baubles were part of a scene in one of B. Altman's Fifth
Avenue famous Christmas windows.
The best and most satisfying was yet to come.
In the seventies, Graber started her one-of-a-kind Victorian style
lace pillows. She has been selling her work at many juried arts and
crafts shows in the tri-state area to her numerous loyal clients.
Although Anna has now retired her sewing machines,
she is offering an assortment of fine, imported linens, seasonal
items as well as handcrafted home decorations.
